New white paper: An organic revolution powered by cooperation – and the sustainable mindset behind it

Indhold fra partner Hvad er dette?

In the new white paper “Organic – A vision and a mindset in the Danish food cluster” you will get insights into the organic vision that started with a handful of dairy farmers and rapidly gained the support of a nation, creating new business opportunities for international partners in the process.

At a time where organic food products are increasingly in demand, Danish strengths within the organic food sector have come into their own. Around the world, Denmark has earned a reputation as a leading nation for organic food production and know-how. Strong and trusting collaboration across the public and private sector has provided a solid foundation for this growth adventure. Legislation, regular controls and organic labels set the standards that food producers take pride in attaining.

A cross-sector commitment to an organic journey
Even though Denmark is a small country, we produce enough food to feed three times our own population. In Denmark you will find Europe’s biggest organic meat company, Friland, and the world’s largest organic dairy, Arla Foods, both with roots back in the 19th century.

From producers to researchers, organisations and national policy-makers, strong cross-sector support has characterised Denmark’s organic movement since the beginning – and driven its success. Stakeholders from across the value chain, from farmer to consumer, have all helped to develop a market-driven sector where nature, animal welfare and sustainability are prime considerations.

In recent years, a growing number of companies have entered the global market with organic food and beverage products. The fruits of their successful efforts are clearly visible in Danish stores and supermarkets – and in export markets all over the world.

ORGANIC STANDS AS A VISION AND THE MINDSET OF THE DANISH FOOD CLUSTER

Sustainable ambitions from farm to fork

Danish organic farmers cultivate about 10% of Denmark’s agricultural land. And, while they vary greatly in size, each farm is guided by organic rules for producing good raw materials with utmost consideration for the environment, biodiversity and animal welfare. Efficiency and sustainability go hand in hand. These goals are driven by the organic farmers’ associations and go beyond the requirements of EU regulations for organic production.

As a business partner to the Danish food cluster, you can let yourself be inspired by our experience and know-how within organic food production to develop your business.
