Managing flexibility, networks and power
Our workplaces are evolving, and managers need new insights and tools to better understand and manage these changes. A central challenge is that as the workforce becomes better educated and more diverse, employees have higher expectations to work. These expectations are reflected in the EU work-life and pay transparency directives. When employees have high expectations about work, organizations need to change their practices to enhance retention and productivity. One essential way to meet these expectations is to create a positive work environment.
This three-day course targets leaders and managers at different levels, as well as HR professionals.
Course content
This research-based course presents models and methods that enhance the managerial tool box when responding to changes. We first outline the formal policies at play and how you can manage them in your workplace. We then discuss the informal work environment from both the managerial and employee perspectives: We introduce theories and exercises on how you can use interpersonal networks to strengthen your influence at work. We also discuss and analyze how power works in your work place, addressing recent and more inclusive perspectives on managing power in organizations.
