’Beyond 2020’

The shipping industry handles about 90% of the world’s transported goods. In this way, shipping links production, people and companies in global trade and contributes to development and growth all over the world. Developing efficient, reliable and smart solutions to transporting goods from producers to buyers is increasingly a key component in ensuring social development through trade.

Recognising that smarter global trade is closely tied to sustainability, NORDEN’s CSR strategy focuses on the linkage between social and economic progress and seeks to increase value for customers and communities, while strengthening NORDEN’s long-term competitiveness.

The CSR strategy is called ‘Beyond 2020’ and is aligned with UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasising #9: Industry innovation and infrastructure. SDG 9 is where NORDEN has identified that we can have a large positive impact through two key focus areas: decarbonisation and logistics optimisation.

Decarbonisation

Shipping today has a big impact on the climate, and the industry needs alternative transportation options. Under the heading decarbonisation, we will continue our focus on investigating viable solutions for low-carbon transportation.

Logistics optimisation

Effective transport and logistics can help drive the expansion of world trade. We will use NORDEN’s knowledge and experience in optimising infrastructure logistics. Under the heading logistics optimisation, NORDEN will find collaborative ways to remove these barriers, which hold the potential for creating shared value for customers, partner, local communities, regions and NORDEN.

The CSR strategy is part of NORDEN’s overall business strategy and supports NORDEN’s Corporate Soul Purpose that states: “As custodians of smarter global trade, we are conscious, soulful people uniting a world, where every person and action matters”.
