Safety comes first at Nel Hydrogen
To ensure the safety and high quality at Nel Hydrogen, the company has had a close cooperation with Bureau Veritas since 2016.
At Nel Hydrogen, safety comes first. The company are striving to develop their H2Stations™ to be as safe as possible, and to produce them in as high a quality as possible. To support these objectives, Nel Hydrogen entered a cooperation with Bureau Veritas for the European markets in 2016.
“Collaborating with Bureau Veritas gives us additional assurance that our systems are compliant with laws and regulations and will be safe to operate, both from a production and product perspective. Furthermore, the Bureau Veritas certification of our H2stations™ provides us with even more credibility when performing site approval with local authorities,” says Karsten Poulsen, Vice President Operations, Nel Hydrogen, and praises the cooperation with Bureau Veritas:
“Bureau Veritas offers a competent service in conformity assessment, covering national and European regulations, codes, and standards. In the daily operations, we experience a very accommodating and flexible mindset from the inspectors we have engaged with, enabling a smooth and flexible execution of the certification of our production and on-site installations.”
Ambitious growth plans for the upcoming years
Since 2016 the cooperation between Nel Hydrogen and Bureau Veritas has evolved, and Bureau Veritas has come to play a big role as an independent inspection and certification body to the product development, as the accredited third-party, doing design assessment and inspections while producing and as well for the final installation on-site.
“Bureau Veritas has accessed and challenged us on our design, ensuring that all equipment is designed according to the applicable directives and legislations, especially the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU). Furthermore, Bureau Veritas has become a natural part of our daily operations in the factory as Notified Body, performing line walks, inspections, and certifications of our components and H2Stations™,” says Karsten Poulsen, and predicts for the cooperation to grow further in the upcoming years:
“Nel Hydrogen has ambitious growth plans for the coming years and aims to ensure green hydrogen has a central role in the energy transition. There will continuously be new products developed to meet the marked requirements and, as such, we expect Bureau Veritas to play a role in these next important steps together with us.”
