7 B Corp principles for resilient & responsible business

What can companies do to build back better in preparation for the time during and after the COVID-19 crisis? Learn from the key learnings and best practices from the B Corp movement.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to challenge our economy, health and daily (work) lives, we’re reminded that our work towards an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economic system for all has never been more important.

But what exactly can companies do to build back better in preparation for the time during and after the COVID-19 crisis?

Being a certified B Corp ourselves, we’ve become part of a global community of companies worldwide, who are using their business as a force for good.

So it was only natural for us to reach out and join our good business forces with B Corp Denmark and B Corp Europe to put together an infographic with 7 principles for resilient and responsible business, based on key learnings and best practices from the B Corp movement.

They are available in both English and Danish:

1. HELP SOCIETY FLOURISH (HA' SAMFUNDSAMBITION)

B Corps are redefining the role of business in society. They define societal ambition and build impact business models. They compete not only to be best in the world, but best for the world.

2. CREATE STAKEHOLDER VALUE (SKAB VÆRDI FOR ALLE)

B Corps challenge shareholder primacy. They have a broader sense of responsibility, insist on creating value for all stakeholders, and work towards an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economic system.

3. SHOW COMPASSION & CARE (UDVIS MENNESKELIGHED)

B Corps are generous, inclusive and care for their entire value chain. The human touch, the sense of belonging, extended ownership and empowerment makes them more resilient.

4. HONOR INTERDEPENDENCE (TÆNK LANGSIGTET)

B Corps know that we’re all interdependent and responsible for each other. They commit to inter-generational equity and long-term decision-making without compromising the needs of future generations.

5. TAKE A STAND (BRUG JERES STEMME)

B Corps share the change they want to see in the world. They are ambitious and bold, speak up and take clear stands on the difference they seek. Even when it means compromising short-term profit gains.

6. PRACTICE TRANSPARENCY (VÆR TRANSPARENT)

Nobody expects 100% perfection. B Corps communicate openly and honestly about positive contributions and negative impacts. They set ambitious targets and measure progress on the path to greater responsibility.

7. DRIVE COLLECTIVE ACTION (INVITER TIL HANDLING)

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. B Corp is an inclusive movement that engages, inspires and invites others to join in taking responsible action.
