Copenhagen, Denmark – June 15, 2021 – Today Siteimprove released its 2020 Sustainability Report. The publication of the report also marks the tenth time Siteimprove has submitted its Communication on Progress to the United Nations Global Compact after having joined the initiative in 2010.

The 2020 Sustainability Report outlines Siteimprove’s contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals and the Global Compact principles within human rights, labor rights, environment, and anti-corruption.

In his introduction to the report, Morten Ebbesen, CEO and Founder, says about Siteimprove’s efforts in 2020:

“In a challenging year, we have maintained our crystal clear focus on digital inclusion and continued to live up to our responsibility as a thought leader within digital accessibility.”

2020 was a year dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic. It impacted businesses, societies, and people. For Siteimprove, the priority became its employees and ensuring their health and safety. The report features an interview with Gitte Hemmingsen, VP of Global HR, who explains how Siteimprove has been taking care of its employees during the pandemic.

With lockdowns all around the world moving work, school, services, and social interactions online, digital accessibility and inclusion have never been more important. The 2020 Sustainability Report describes Siteimprove’s contributions to digital accessibility, including:

  • The launch of Siteimprove’s upgraded accessibility tool known as “Accessibility NextGen”
  • The formation of Siteimprove’s new partnerships with other key industry leaders
  • The conclusion of the WAI-Tools Project, an Innovation Action project under the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program, that resulted in more than 70 accessibility conformance testing rules
  • The increased usage of Siteimprove’s free tools such as the Accessibility Checker for Google Chrome, the Color-Contrast Checker, and the Accessibility Statement Generator

Siteimprove’s sustainability goals for 2021 are also included in the report, setting the scene for Siteimprove to continue being a global standard-bearer for digital accessibility and inclusion.
