amfori and Global GAP are proud to sign a partnership together, committing both to advancing human rights in the agrifood industries and their supply chains.
The collaboration comes at a critical time as government around Europe and globally seek to strengthen human rights due diligence regulations and introduce mandatory requirements.
The partnership aims to support the efforts of businesses and farms in global supply chains, while respecting human rights and protecting workers. This agreement marks the consolidation of a partnership that started in 2009 and stems from both organisations’ commitment to drive social sustainability in food and agricultural supply chains. GLOBALG.A.P. is a farm assurance program that translates consumer requirements into good agricultural practices. amfori is a business association that offers trade, social and environment services to improve the resilience and sustainability of global supply chains.
Both organisations aim to enhance the monitoring of human rights and working conditions along supply chains. This will be achieved by facilitating the inclusion of the Global GAP’s Risk Assessment on Social Practice (GRASP) in the sustainability practices of global retailers that are using amfori services. A digital solution to support this approach will be further explored in 2021.
Farms that operate in global supply chains will benefit from the collaboration as it promotes audit readiness and enables access to the support services of both Global GAP and amfori. Buyers will gain greater visibility and data on the sustainability performance of their business partners at primary production level.
