From recycling to robotics, from co-owning to cross-sector partnerships. The circular economy is not only a hot-topic, but an essential pathway for sustainable development. Against the backdrop of increasing resource scarcity, a growing world population and rising pollution levels, the need for a circular economy become more and more clear. It's restorative in design and opposes a traditional linear economy based on the idea of ‘make, use dispose’.
Even though the concept of a circular economy might be clear, it is still a challenge for most to apply circular principles in established systems and to build new business models on circularity. SB Insight’s yearly report on the circular economy, provides actors with extensive insights into sectors and behaviours to face these challenges.
Based on independent research among consumers and decision-makers, the report includes market developments, trends and in-depth insights about the thoughts and behaviours of consumers and decision makers. The report presents data on current and future challenges, while providing tools that allow actors to rethink their processes, discover new business models and with that become more resilient.
This year’s report for example shows that Danish consumers are overall more positive towards reducing their consumption in 2018 than 2017. Also, 32% of the Danes state that the largest obstacle towards adapting to circular behaviours is that it is too cheap to consume new things instead of repairing old things. In addition, the report shows interesting demographical divergences. For example, older Danes recycle more than younger Danes and are also more positive towards repairing their things. There are also very interesting gender divergences.

'The Nordic Market for Circular Economy' will be launched on the 7th of March.
