New white paper: Ingredients – Solutions of Tomorrow by the Danish Ingredient Sector
Indhold fra partner Hvad er dette?
The global food supply is facing vast challenges, and as the population continues to grow, this raises an important question: How will we ensure a sustainable supply of safe, high-quality food to consumers all over the world?
The white paper Ingredients – Leading Innovation Towards Sustainable Feed and Food has just been launched by the Danish Minister for Food, Mogens Jensen, along with representatives from the Danish ingredients industry.
This white paper covers the Danish ingredient industry’s contribution to solving global challenges and to creating new business opportunities for international partners across borders. Resource efficiency, sustainability, food waste, health, quality, food safety and innovative sustainable solutions for agriculture and food production are some of the topics in the new white paper from Food Nation.
The global feed and food supply call for innovative solutions
The world population is growing in a speed so we must produce more food than we have done in the past 8.000 years within the next 40 years. Now more than ever we need to address and focus on sustainable means to produce safe, high-quality feed and food. Furthermore, we need to stress the importance of close collaborations and knowledge sharing throughout the entire value chain and across borders.
Mogens Jensen, Minister for Food, says:
“Denmark is a small country but a giant in ingredients. When we hold a strong position here, it is because we can deliver ingredient solutions that, among others can contribute to increased efficiency, quality and health in the food and feed production, and hereby be a key player in a green and sustainable transition.”
Denmark’s tradition for collaboration is key to success
Ingredient companies rely on cross-sector collaboration with relevant industry partners, academia, public administration and government to continuously develop innovative solutions that contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – whether the aim is to reduce the climate impact of food production, make safe and healthy food accessible to low-income families or meet the nutritional needs of consumers throughout life.
“World events are a regular reminder of the importance of safe, nutritious and high-quality foods. For generations, the ingredient industry in Denmark has demonstrated its ability to respond to new challenges and opportunities throughout the food value chain. In the current time, this is a powerful value proposition, which holds great potential for an even greater contribution to the SDGs,” says CEO at Food Nation, Lise Walbom.
A long track record for innovative and sustainable solutions
Within the global feed and food industry, Denmark has earned a reputation as one of the absolute leaders for innovative and sustainable ingredients solutions. Today, Danish ingredients companies support farmers, feed suppliers and food companies produce safe, nutritious and sustainable food to feed the world’s growing population.
In Denmark you will find an ingredients industry skilled in improving the efficiency and quality of food and feed production. It is done by supporting food processes or by making the best possible use of raw materials. That includes recycling and upgrading the side streams of food production, such as the whey from cheese production or trimmings from meat and fish. Previously disposed of as agricultural fertilizers or used in animal feed, such side streams are now transformed into high-value ingredients for food use.
In short, the white paper provides an overview of the Danish ingredients industry and the solutions that will play an important role in securing a reliable and sustainable food supply for tomorrow. As a business partner with the Danish ingredients industry, you will be part of our continuous work to find better solutions, and thereby contributing to achieve our shared sustainability goals.
